The two Gonge balance rings in the Adventure package are a
great way to get toddlers engaged in activity that really help
their physical development. There are two senses involved in
coordinating movements; our sense of balance (Vestibular) and
our muscle sense (Proprioception). These senses work with
our vision and sense of touch to help us to move around,
from our first tentative roll, to doing confident forward rolls!
Our brain gets information about our balance from our inner ear, this is why you might feel "wobbly" or get vertigo when you have a cold or ear infection. Muscles from all over our body, from your forehead to your toes, send the brain information too. Sometimes, if our brain isn't getting enough information from our muscles, it might make us fidget, or get "restless legs". Toddlers muscle and balance senses are still developing - one reason why they fall over and can't stay still! Just like we would encourage babies to use their senses of sight, hearing, touch, taste and smell from a young age, it is really important to engage the balance and muscle senses too. Here are 50+ ways to use the Gonge balance rings to help your toddler develop their movement senses alongside their communication, imagination and resilience.
