How Challenge helps you to play, learn and grow
Thinking - Make Links

Challenge

Challenge

Who? For wobbly toddlers starting to balance and climb

What? Triangle, balance boards and toys for open play

Why? To build confidence, co-ordination and to encourage exploration of colour, shape and size.

Emotions - Have courage
Movement - Balance
Communicating - Role-play
The Pikler triangle is designed so that you can change the level of challenge, from laying flat to step over the rungs to a tall, tall tower to climb to the top of. The large and small balance boards are great for demonstrating courage together.
Make links between different objects. Notice similarities and differences in colour, size and shape. Sort things and make patterns. Experiment with cause and effect; pushing, rolling stacking and tumbling.
The wooden boards are a perfect way to develop balance and core stability. They can be a curved surface to crawl over, or a more challenging wobbly space to test that balance. Start by holding hands, move to holding furniture towards wobbling independently and with confidence.
The variety of spaces that can be created and characters that can be imagined make Challenge great for exploring role-play. From attributing characters to the rollers as they race over the boards to playing shops, or pretending to climb the castle.
